Team API

Team API

A Team API is a lightweight, team-maintained document that tells the rest of the organisation what the team owns, what services it provides, how it communicates, and what it expects from others. Just as a software API defines a contract between components, a Team API makes team interactions predictable and reduces the need for ad-hoc coordination. It turns informal knowledge into discoverable, structured information that survives team rotations and organisational growth, and the concept comes from Team Topologies where it is especially valuable in larger organisations where teams cannot rely on everyone knowing everyone else.
